Another very good example of dramatic montage in a scene to tell a story is from The Good The Bad & The Ugly directed by Sergio Leone  made in 1966. Leone introduced the style of mixing extreme close ups with wide shots in an operatic style of directing. Leone is a big infliuence on director Quentin Tarantino

The ending montage of the film The Last of the Mohicans (directed by Michael Mann) is an excellent example of dramatic non verbal visual language. From the last dialogue at around 1m 25secs there are 157 shots that make up this dramatic montage to tell the story.
