DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS : A code of behavior for jedi journalists

There is a Mexican teacher Don Miguel Ruiz (you may have seen his promotional poster) who has some very good advice for Jedi Journalists: Don’t Make Assumptions – In reporting ( 2nd phase of the news cycle)  this is very important, and also in life. It comes from an influential  book he wrote in 1997 called The Four Agreements and it lists 4 codes of behavior that can bring about personal freedom from chaos, confusion & needless drama in life.

The 3 other parts of the code are listed here, I think this is good personal advice, simple but effective. It certainly has relevance in journalism.

He since written The 5th Agreement – Be Skeptical but Learn to Listen, again great advice for Jedi Journalists
