1. THE MEDIA DEALS IN ONE COMMODITY = INFORMATION

Commentary

The word Media is the plural of medium, and a medium is something through which something else passes. What passes through the media is information.

2. QUALITY INFORMATION = SMART DECISIONS 

Commentary

Other than being an academic subject Media Studies is an extremely important subject to know about and to be able to navigate. Your lives will depend on the quality of your decisions, and those decisions will depend on what information you source.

3. THREE HISTORICAL AGES  IN TECHNOLOGY

Commentary

With the agrarian revolution we saw the invention of writing, with industrialization we saw the role of electricity to give people power for tools & transport, with the dawn of the informational age we saw a rapid increase in human connectivity due to access via the Web on computers.

4. FIVE REVOLUTIONS IN COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

Commentary

Writing’s key technology is of course the Alphabet, once you can read & write any person can consume & produce print media.The key to the expansion of literacy in the west was Gutenberg’s printing press, soon after photography was invented images began to appear in printed material.With the advent of radio we have another media for the transfer of information in real time over long distances. The invention of tv followed not long after incorporating moving images recorded in real time. The World Wide Web as we know is entering its latest incarnation Social Media making everyone a producer and a consumer of information content.
